ASPiH 2024 was the biggest simulation conference ever in the UK. It welcomed over 800 delegates and 70 exhibitors, hosted 30+ workshops and more over the 2-day conference in Edinburgh.
ASPiH is the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare and holds a conference each year for individuals who work in healthcare simulation.
This year, ASPiH celebrated its 15th anniversary at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and chose the theme of Transformative Simulation.
Before the conference began, the Sim & Skills team hosted a Ghost Tour on Sunday evening for a selection of customers. Ghost stories and the history of the city were told while wandering around the streets of Edinburgh.
Before the Ghost Tour commenced, customers were invited to meet at The Kick Ass Bar for a drink and some pre-tour conversations. The bar saw 30 customers attend and be welcomed by the Sim & Skills team.
On Monday 4th November ASPiH began and was kicked off with a keynote speech from Colette Laws-Chapman, President of ASPiH who shared that the conference saw more than 200 first-time attendees, equalling up to 1,000 attendees in total.
Following the morning welcome, attendees headed to workshops and visited exhibitors in Cromdale Hall. Sim & Skills were on stands 2-5 near the entrance, so the bright yellow was hard to miss.
Many attendees stopped by to see the most innovative healthcare simulation and clinical skills training equipment available. Many tried the Skills Station, showcasing their skills and cannulating IV arms.
SimEPR proved incredibly popular, with many people queuing for a demonstration of the Simulated Electronic Patient Record software. The amount of positive feedback was evidence of the need for SimEPR in University and NHS simulation centres.
On Day 2, more workshops were hosted and the Sim & Skills team welcomed more attendees onto the stand.
While more demonstrations and conversations took place, DxBAT and SimVox had a lot of interest, proving how transformative our products were for attendees' simulated practice.
The Skills Station had a lot of interest as well, with attendees liking the Sticky Wounds Moulage section, along with the other Clinical Skills that were on show, such as Catheterisation models.
Overall, ASPiH 2024 was a great conference. Thank you to all who stopped by the stand for a conversation, a demo or to say hello - it was incredible to see so many of you.
Next year, ASPiH will be at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and the team can't wait to do it again. Details about tickets and submissions for abstracts will be released in the new year.
