What is happening at ASPiH Conference 2024?

Student Sim Stars

This year’s conference sees the launch of Student Sim Stars. A competition run by ASPiH and our friends iRIS Scenario Design System. To enter the competition teams from around the world put forward simulation scenarios designed and created by students.

4 finalists have been chosen by the panel to compete at the ASPiH conference, where an overall winner will be announced.

The finalists are

Aston University

Keele University

University of Liverpool

Wrexham University

Are you interested in developing student-led scenarios? StudentSim from iRIS gives you the tools to support your students and help them thrive. Take a closer look https://simandskills.co.uk/pages/iris

Innovation Space

The ASPiH conference is a great space to see the latest simulation innovations: products, approaches and learning methods that are leading the way in advancing Healthcare Simulation.

This year the Innovation Space will host presentations that showcase the best of this year’s most revolutionary ideas.

The Enhance session will showcase innovative approaches to simulation-based learning, immersive technology or extended reality, focusing on interventions which have been shown to improve the delivery of healthcare education or enhance clinical practice.

We are very pleased to announce we have been chosen to present in the Enhance Session- showcasing the incredible benefits of implementing SimEPR, the only simulated electronic patient record software. Join us at 11am on Monday 4th November in the Innovation Space, Cromdale Hall.

The Share session will see delegates share how they have integrated national guidelines into simulation-based learning and how they have created solutions to common challenges within simulation delivery.

The Improve session will welcome members of the transformative simulation special interest group to the innovation space. Members of this special interest group will chair discussions in relation to the principles of transformative simulation and how delegates and commercial partners might collaborate to drive a national programme of work activity following this conference.

Dragon’s Den

As part of its 15th Birthday celebrations, ASPiH is launching its very own Dragon’s Den competition. Sharing some similarities with the famous TV show, 5 teams will get the chance to present their Healthcare Simulation ideas to a panel of experts.

Support will be offered to the winners through mentoring to help develop their ideas. Following this year's conference, an entrepreneurial special interest group will be set up to help support budding entrepreneurs bring their healthcare simulation ideas to reality.

The challenges and benefits of simulated practice learning in nursing programmes.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council will be hosting a workshop at ASPiH 2024 to discuss its new report on the use of Simulated Practice in pre-registration nursing programmes.

The report focuses on the work of 19 different universities who increased their simulated practice learning hours. This workshop will delve into the initial findings and recommendations from this research.
